Game Designer
We are looking for a passionate Game Designer to join our Tokyo-based team, to work on our exciting unannounced project here at Shapefarm.
We're looking for individuals with a deep passion for game design and a solid technical background to be able to prototype, iterate and implement new mechanics, and systems or come up with solutions to various design challenges.
If you're looking to be part of a small and highly creative team, working on a brand-new IP we'd like to hear from you! The ideal candidate for this role would be willing to relocate to Japan (full relocation support is provided by Shapefarm).
Knowledge and Skills
- Extensive technical experience in Unreal Engine
- Work with Game Director or Lead Designer to define briefs and overviews for game-play mechanics, systems and own their implementation
- Strong ability to work in a self-sufficient way
- Ability to closely collaborate with engineering, content, QA, and other core disciplines
- Develop gameplay mechanics or systems to the highest standards
- Identify and iron out bugs and tweaks as you implement your solutions
- An open mindset to feedback and possesses the ability to quickly iterate on feedback when received
- Experience in providing estimations to support production planning and scheduling
- Act as a central point to collaborate with all departments, by rallying disciplines together in order to ensure the best possible player experience
Communication
- Ability to clearly and openly communicate challenges, risks, and questions to any members of the team
- Ability to create high-level documentation on systems and processes when needed

Japanese Visa Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or 10 years of experience
