Lead Animator
Description
Shapefarm is embarking on an ambitious project to create an original IP and is seeking a talented and driven Lead Animator to join our team. As a Lead Animator, you will be responsible for driving the animation vision for the project and guiding a team of animators to bring our creative vision to life.
Knowledge and Skills
Solid understanding of animation principles and techniques.
Deep understanding of game development processes and pipelines, including how animation fits into the larger development cycle.
Able to effectively communicate their vision and goals for the project.
Exceptional problem-solving skills, both creatively and technically.
Ability to lead a team of 2-4 direct reports.
Proven experience with Unreal Engine
Process
Collaborate with tech artists and engineers to establish and enhance an efficient animation pipeline that promotes rapid iteration and prototyping for game development.
Work closely with designers, technical artists, and engineers to seamlessly integrate animation assets into the game engine while proactively identifying and resolving any technical challenges that may arise during the process.
Collaborating with the team to co-create a distinctive animation style and visual direction that aligns with the project's objectives.
Guiding and managing a team of individuals with empathy, considerate communication, and honesty.
Accountability
Recognized for their impact on team culture; people are excited to work with them.
The team’s ability to hit quality and deadlines is ultimately the leader’s responsibility.
Communication
Align with other department heads (Art, Engineering, Design, etc) to ensure a cohesive experience in line with the game direction.
Excel at getting the team to focus on the highest-impact features.
Facilitates cross-communication between different departments and leads.
Communicate clearly to ensure all those on the team understand what is needed and feel involved in the project planning and execution.
Planning, Scheduling, and Delivery
Partnering with production to plan, prioritize and execute/delegate tasks for the animation team and deliver at agreed-upon deadlines.
Management
Will be in charge of a team of two: A technical animator and an animator.
Japanese Visa Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or 10 years of experience.
